NSMW Aims

LACA to run National School Meals Week from 7th - 11th November

National School Meals Week has been running since 1993 and is organised by the Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA).  The week encourages pupils in Nursery Schools and Primary Schools and students in Secondary Schools and colleges to have a healthy school meal that meets the nutrient standards laid down by the respective National Body or Government.

LACA has set the following aims for NSMW

• To increase school meal numbers
• To create an interest in healthy food
• To support a whole school approach to healthy lifestyles
• To re-inforce healthy eating messages within different situations
• To encourage parents to try school meals
• To create positive PR of school catering and the industry
• To help local authorities and schools with their school meals marketing
